Marten, which are a member of the weasel family, were historically present in relatively isolated mountain ranges of central Montana, including the Little Belts, until they were extirpated within the last 100 years.


Because marten are generally unable to disperse naturally across large expanses non-forested habitat, FWP and partners developed a project to restore marten

The fee-free days are part of the Department of Interior’s commitment to increase access, promote recreational opportunities, improve visitor facilities and conserve natural and historical treasures in national parks for the benefit and enjoyment of the American people. The six entrance fee-free days for 2021 will be:


Monday, January 18 – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Saturday, April 17 – First Day of National

Gun Buyers Club

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) in partnership with the Louisiana Fur Advisory Council will hold free trapper education workshops in Lafayette on Jan. 16 and Monroe on Feb. 6.

The Lafayette workshop will be held at Vermilionville Historic Village located at 300 Fisher Road. The Monroe workshop will be conducted at the LDWF Field Office located at 368 Century Link Drive. Both workshops begin at 8:30 a.m. and run through 3 p.m.
