The Maryland Department of Natural Resources will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 27 at the new Bohemia River State Park in Cecil County, located at 3864 Augustine Herman Highway in Chesapeake City.

Community partners, outdoor enthusiasts and others are invited to see and tour the property, and share thoughts on the newest state park on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Maryland Park Service staff will be available to answer questions about the new state park and provide information on topics such as hunting, trails and water access. A shuttle service will be available to ferry visitors to and from the waterfront and other scenic areas of the park.

The department finalized the purchase of Bohemia River State Park last fall. The property will provide opportunities for public access in the form of low-impact, passive recreation such as canoeing, fishing, hunting, kayaking, trail use and wildlife viewing, keeping with the primary goals of conservation and education.

Residents can also offer comments or ask questions about the new park by contacting Fair Hill Natural Resources Management Area at 410-398-1246.
