Permit applications for hunters planning to pursue sandhill cranes in parts of Montana this fall are available from Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks.

All sandhill crane permit applicants must have a 2018 Conservation License and base hunting license and they must pay a $5 nonrefundable application fee.

Prospective sandhill crane hunters can apply online, at FWP regional offices or by mail using an official application.

Online applications are available at fwp.mt.gov under Buy a License and must be submitted by 11:30 p.m. on July 26.

Those who prefer to apply by mail can go to the FWP website on the Hunting page and click Licenses and Permits for a mail-in paper form. Mail-in applications must be received by 5 p.m. on July 26. Mail-in applications must be sent to: Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks; License Section; P.O. Box 200701; Helena MT 59620-0701.
