(AP) Lawmakers in the New Hampshire House have voted to approve a seven-day waiting period for gun purchases.Supporters in the Democratically controlled body said the 199-147 vote was inspired by a desire to prevent suicides. They argued that limiting the access to guns could dramatically cut the suicide rates in the state.Opponents, including the National Rifle Association, said the bill would harm the Second Amendment rights of gun owners.The proposal is among a raft of gun control bills that Democrats are pushing this legislative session.Last month, the House voted to allow school districts to create gun-free zones.
