Florida’s primary election on Tuesday features important races for state, federal and local offices and issues affecting everyone in Florida.

Here’s a quick look at the major candidates on the ballot.

Governor, Republicans[2]

Ron DeSantis[3], 39, of a member of Congress[4] from Marineland, has stressed his endorsement by President Donald Trump as the main reason he should win the primary. He has called for an end to sanctuary cities and tougher immigration laws.

Adam Putnam, 44, state agriculture commissioner from Bartow, says he supports the president's policies, too. He says he has the experience to build upon the state's strong economic growth under Gov. Rick Scott[5].

Governor, Democrats[6]

Andrew Gillum, 38, Tallahassee mayor, says he’s been “front and center” on progressive issues for years and cited his endorsement by U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders. He’s made criminal justice reform a key part of his agenda.

Gwen Graham, 55, a former member of Congress from Tallahassee
