All candidates for public office must make clear where they stand on the issue. I support common-sense laws such as universal comprehensive background checks, red-flag laws, funding research on gun violence, and bans on assault weapons, high-capacity magazines, bump stocks, and ghost guns. I also support increased access and funding to mental health care. That’s why I was pleased to see Hearst Connecticut Media’s editorial calling for all Connecticut candidates to be pressed for their positions on gun safety (June 7, “Let’s pin them down on gun safety”).
