Jul 11, 2022

Insiders on Capitol Hill are reporting a vote in the U.S. Senate to confirm Steve Dettelbach could happen as soon as the week of July 11th.

In 2021, Joe Biden’s nominee to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), David Chipman was ultimately defeated in the Senate Judiciary Committee, strictly because of pressure from gun rights supporters.

Yet, Biden has been determined to fill the vacancy.

In April, it was announced that Steve Dettelbach would be the next nominee to become the permanent Director of the ATF.

Dettelbach, a failed Ohio Attorney General candidate, has a long history of supporting gun control measures such as bans on so-called “assault weapons” and Universal Gun Registration.

Dettelbach even earned the endorsement of Bloomberg’s gun control group, “Everytown for Gun Safety.”

NAGR argues that the President should be in the business of upholding and defending the Second Amendment instead of nominating an ATF Director who would undermine and destroy it.

Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights, added:

President Biden has chosen yet another ATF Director candidate with ‘Gun Control Incorporated’s’ stamp of approval. Nothing in Dettlebach’s background leads us to believe that he would ever side with law-abiding gun owners when it comes to protecting our right to keep and bear arms.”
