COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (April 10, 2019)

Glenn Eller and Ashley Carroll won silver today in the Trap Mixed Team event at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates.

2008 Olympic gold medalist Eller (Katy, Texas/U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit) and three-time National Champion Carroll (Solvang, California) finished second in Qualification with 145/150 combined targets. Eller only dropped one target over his three rounds of 25 targets each, and Carroll was perfect in her first two rounds, but dropped four in her final round.

“Glenn shot amazing,” Carroll said. “He was a great teammate throughout the whole match, and especially the last round, which was tough for me. He helped calm me down and gave me positive feedback to the end of the round. During the Final, Glenn and I were ready for it. We decided that I was going to go first, which had me shooting with all the men and Glenn shooting with the women – we mixed things! During the Final we missed kind of early but fought our way right back to where we needed to be.”

“It was a lot cloudier than it has been, which made visibility tougher,” said Eller, a convert to the Trap game after his signature event of Double Trap was eliminated in Olympic competition after 2016. “We were able to stay tough at the end of Qualification and stay in high position going into the Final. We stumbled a little early but found our groove and were able to catch everyone.” The duo dropped three targets early in the Final, but then didn’t drop a target until the 44th  for a final score of 46/50 targets. The German team of Katrin Quooss and Paul Pigorsch won
