MANSFIELD, Pa. -(Ammoland.com)- The 2018 NRA Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) National Championship is scheduled to begin Sunday, July 22, and run through July 27 at the Mill Cove Environmental Center and Mansfield University in Mansfield, Pennsylvania. The YHEC National Championship is the pinnacle of the NRA YHEC program, bringing together nearly 300 of the top-ranked youths from across the nation to compete for top honors.

This unique opportunity allows youths to meet and learn with fellow participants and coaches and to demonstrate the skills they have acquired through hunter education to prove they are the future generation of responsible and ethical hunters. From rifle, bow and muzzleloader shooting at life-sized targets, to wildlife identification, map and compass orienteering and more, YHEC National Championship participants will put their training to the test in eight skill areas and exhibit their expertise in all methods of take and all types of game.

The most advanced of all YHEC events, the National Championship requires all participants to have completed a hunter safety course as well as a YHEC event at the state level (if your state has one).

Now celebrating its 33rd year of mentoring America's youth, NRA's YHEC provides a fun environment for kids to improve their hunting, marksmanship and safety skills. Through simulated hunting situations, live fire exercises, educational and responsibility events, YHEC helps build upon skills learned in basic hunter education courses and encourages safer, lifelong hunting habits.
