Endangered Species Act (ESA)
Washington D.C. – -(Ammoland.com)- On Thursday, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA Fisheries) jointly proposed revisions to the regulations that implement portions of the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies is encouraged to see the Service’s continued efforts to improve ESA implementation.
“The Association is looking forward to continued collaborative efforts between state fish and wildlife agencies, federal agencies, and the conservation community to effectively safeguard our nation’s diverse fish and wildlife,” stated Virgil Moore, President of the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies and Director of Idaho Fish and Game.
“State fish and wildlife agencies are on the cutting edge of conservation delivery all across the country with science-based restoration and management programs and stand ready to work together to protect our nations valuable natural resources.”
“State fish and wildlife agencies play a crucial role in the conservation of America’s fish and wildlife,” said Executive Director Ron Regan.
“Regulatory reform coupled with new sustainable financial capacity, such as what the bipartisan Recovering America’s Wildlife Act legislation would authorize (H.R. 4647, S.3223), could help state agencies fully implement their State Wildlife Action Plans and conserve species of greatest conservation need.”

The proposed rules will be published in the Federal Register in the coming days and will provide detailed information on how the public can submit written comments and information concerning these provisions. The Service will have a 60 day comment period. All comments will be posted on http://www.regulations.gov.
