FRANKFORT, Ky. — After being arrested by two Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources Conservation Officers on Thanksgiving Day in Nelson County, two hunters are facing multiple charges.

That morning, Conservation Officers Ben Fisher and Lee Keith were conducting hunting patrols when they observed a man walking along railroad tracks wearing a camouflage jacket and looking into the surrounding trees. As the officers approached, the man ran, initiating a foot pursuit that ended quickly.

Officers apprehended Jeffrey Jones, 32, of Louisville. The officers found a crossbow laying near Jones and later discovered he was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Also arrested at the scene was Isaac Spiehler, 50, of Bardstown, who was found in a tree a short distance from where Jones was apprehended. Officers found a bow and arrow that Spiehler had allegedly thrown to the ground.

Jones and Spiehler were not wearing the required hunter orange clothing and officers found several hunting related items in their possession. They were taken to the Nelson County Jail and face multiple charges, including illegally taking or pursuing of deer, hunting without a license, hunting without a deer permit, hunting without permission and hunting while under the influence.
